What is Divertly?

Divertly is a URL shortlinking service.

Why we made Divertly 

We created Divertly for anyone who needed a way to share “pretty” links with customers, employeees, friends, family, and more.

Yes, there are other platforms that do this too, but we saw the need for a more user-friendly, security-focused shortlinking platform and decided to build our own.

Who is it for? 

Divertly is for everyone.

What does it do? 

Simply put: We make shortlinks.

So what’s a shortlink? A shortlink is a link that redirects users to a different website, but the length of the link is usually shorter and easier to remember. For example:

https://www.divert.ly/what/is/divertly/and/who/is/it/for

becomes

https://dvt.dyi/whatisdivertly

The second one is much eaiser to read and remember, but it still redirects (or “points”) to the long, hard-to-remember one. This is very useful if you need to send users to a URL that looks “ugly” and that users might think is malicious but is in fact not, like a one-time-use feedback form with a long and complex data encoded in the URL. Using a shortlink lets your users know that it comes from you without having to worry about evaluating the content behind it.

How does it work? 

Without getting too technical, when a user clicks on one of our shortlinks, our proxy servers tell that user’s browser to redirect to a different URL. If you would like a more technical explaination of how this works, you can find that in the Technical Reference section on the left.
